Jimmie “Arlene” Amerson, born November 9, 1944, in Wrightsville, Georgia, to the late Arlin H. Dowd, Sr. and Jimmie Lee Miller Dowd, entered into Heaven’s gates on October 3, 2025.
Arlene lived a life filled with love, faith, and joy. She deeply cherished her beloved husband, Lonnie, with whom she shared nearly 45 wonderful years of marriage. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she found her greatest happiness in spending time with those she adored.
Arlene worked for many years as a Laboratory Technician at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she made lasting friendships and touched the hearts of those around her. She truly enjoyed the importance and scientific process of her work, taking great pride in contributing to the care and well-being of others.
A woman of steadfast faith, Arlene loved the Lord with all her heart. Her kind spirit and warm smile reflected the peace and joy she found in her relationship with Him.
Arlene had many passions that brought her delight throughout her life. She loved her flowers and took great pride in her gardening, often surrounded by the beauty she nurtured. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, creating with her hands and finding joy in every stitch. An avid reader and a dedicated worker, Arlene approached everything she did with enthusiasm and care.
Those who knew Arlene will remember her as always happy, pleasant, and full of grace. Her kindness and joyful heart touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and light.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she blessed.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by sister, Bonnie Curtis; and brother-in-law, Hien Pham, Sr.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband, Lonnie Amerson; children, Angela Ruth Spinks (Josh) of Cordele and Neil Bryant Amerson (Talia) of Roberta; grandchildren, Erick, Elton and Perce; siblings, Faye Cochran (Dave) of Macon, Billy Dowd (Vivian) of Woodstock, David Dowd (Ruby) of Juliette, Lloyd Dowd (Carolyn) of Macon, Tony Dowd (Janet) of Centerville, Becky Pham of Wrightsville, Sharon Alford (Ricky) of Ft. Valley, Robin Dowd of Warner Robins, Arlin H Dowd, Jr. of Warner Robins, Jennifer Burch (Lee) of Juliette, Doyle Dowd (Anna) of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Lori Wood (Randy) of Dublin; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal dog Duke.
A memorial gathering with family and friends will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church with a memorial service immediately following. Afterward, Arlene will be laid to rest privately.
