Jimmie D. Andrews, 94, of Pickens SC entered into his eternal rest on September 12, 2025. As a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, his death signaled his race was finished and he was ushered into the very presence of God whom he faithfully served . He was surrounded by his wife Barbara and family members was by his side to witness his homegoing and testifies to the truth to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Jimmie was born May 26, 1931 in Liberty South Carolina to the late Boone and Clara Sweezy Andrews. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force, where he served as a medic from 1951 to 1955.
Jimmie worked in manufacturing following his time in the military. He retired after working more than 50 years in manufacturing. He held various positions of service, including supervisor, director, and plant manager with Gerber children’s wear, Kent Inc. and Badger Sportswear.
He was a dedicated member of Pickens View Wesleyan church where he has served on leadership boards, was an incredible Sunday school teacher, and in the most recent years, Jimmie was known as a prayer warrior and motivator to the pastoral staff. Through the years Jimmie enjoyed family and church activities, fishing, camping and woodworking. Daily devotions have been the anchor to his walk with his Lord. A student of the scripture where he has read and listen to the entire Bible every year from Genesis to Revelation for 30 consecutive years. His health declined following his Parkinson’s diagnosis, one could find him having a conversation with family and friends, or watching the Atlanta Braves, old westerns, or the daily game shows.
He is survived by his devoted and supportive wife of 33 years; son, David and daughter-in-law Mary of Easley, Daughters; Kim Andrews Greene of Simpsonville, and Joy Bryant and son-in-law Robin of Six Mile; son-in-law Wayne Greene of Greenville; grandchildren, Jimmie Nicole Andrews, Jordan Andrews, River Andrews, Myla-Grace Andrews, Stephen Greene (Katelyn), Brandon Bryant (Lexy), Robbie Bryant (Kaitlyn); great grandchildren, Bryson Bryant, Tripp Bryant, Riggins Bryant; sister-in-laws Sylvia Andrews, Betty Porter, Edith Bryson, Judy Roper, Shirley Whitaker; brother-in-law, Garvin Whitaker, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Jerry Andrews, Alfred Andrews, and Floyd Andrews; a sister Elizabeth Andrews Robinson; and two brother-in-laws Lewis Whitaker and George Roper.
Reverend Paul Service will be officiating the funeral. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers; Stephen Greene, River Andrews, Jordan Andrews, Brandon Bryant, Robbie Bryant, Bryson Bryant, Brad Whitaker, Blake Parker.
Funeral Service for Jimmie Andrews will be held on Monday, September 15 at 12 o’clock in the sanctuary of Pickens View Wesleyan Church located at 744 Bethlehem Ridge Rd., Pickens, SC, Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Military burial will be at Hilcrest Cemetery family expresses special. Thanks for the care provided to Jimmie by MSA medical services of America- Hospice and the staff at Right at Home. A special appreciation for the church helpers, David Riddle and Fred Wilson and the countless other helpers at Pickens View who were dedicated to assisting Jimmie during these difficult years of health decline. The family expresses deep gratitude to all.
