Jimmie Lee Coburn

Hubert- MSgt. Jimmie Lee Coburn (USMC Retired), 72, passed away at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington of Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1951 in Boise, ID a son of the late Frank J. and Virginia Pursley Coburn.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jimmie faithfully served and retired after more than 23 years of service from the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Vietnam war and the first Gulf war with many deployments in between taking him all over the world. After his military service he began a career at Sears in the Automotive department. He loved to spend time with his family and would do anything for his children and granddaughters who he simply adored. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing golf and letting his daughter win at cards. Jimmie could fix or build anything, he was a great teacher and true jack of all trades. He took pride in everything he did and took time to do it the right way. He was respected by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. He fought a long courageous battle with COPD and his strength and toughness never wavered. Dad was truly one of a kind, a man cut from a different cloth no longer made. Dad, we know you will always be with us, We love you. Until we meet again, Semper Fidelis.
He is survived by his sons, Keith Coburn of Greenville, Lucas Coburn (His Righthand Man), of the home, and Nathan Coburn of Wilmington; daughter, Heather King (Tommy) of Jacksonville; and two granddaughters, Hailey King and Kennedy Coburn.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Walter and his brother, Russell Coburn.
