JIMMIE L. "Jimmie Shack" COLEMAN, age 85 of Cuba, Alabama, was born March 6, 1940 to the late Daisy Oliver. He was adopted as an infant and raised by the late John and Mattie Sheffield Coleman. He peacefully transitioned to the Will of God at his niece's residence December 18, 2025 at 8:23 p.m. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Chapel CME Church, County Road 9, Ward, Alabama with Pastor Rev. Sis. Joyce McCoy delivering the eulogy offering words of comfort and consolation with Bro. Leon Sheffield serving as Spiritual Conductor. Interment and Service of Committal follows in Cokes Chapel Cemetery, also County Road 9, Ward. Visitation is scheduled Sunday (Dec. 28th) from 2-4:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.
Jimmy grew up in the Townsend Mission Community of Ward, Alabama. As a young man, he hauled pulpwood and worked numerous other jobs. He enjoyed reading his weekly newspaper, fishing and working in his garden, which he continued to do until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; Edna Ruth Gilmore and Nona Glasco. Those who remain to cherish his memories are: one son, Kevin Graham of Ward, AL; one (1) daughter Markita Ward of Northridge, OH; one sister, Mary Earl (James) Washington of San Antonio, TX; one step-sister, Esther Byrd of San Bernadino, CA., and two step-brothers: Johnny (Beverly) Johnson and Walter Johnson, both of Chicago, IL., one sister-in-law, Beatrice Johnson of Chicago, IL., one aunt,: Pattie Gipson of Cleveland, OH; a devoted niece and nephew who served as his caregivers, Audrey & Ivy Speight of Ward, Al., a goddaughter whom he loved and cherished and who referred to him as "Granddaddy"., Alexis Steele of Huntsville, AL., a nephew who he had a special bond with Tonnie Fitch of Las Vegas, NV; Eleven (11) grandchildren; ten (10) great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory and miss his presence.
