Jimmie Woodrow Hortman, 87
Okeechobee – Jimmie Woodrow Hortman was called home to Jesus October 23, 2024. He was born February 16, 1937 in Butler, Georgia. A resident of Okeechobee for 60 years, he was a member of Oakview Church where he enjoyed serving in many ways, one of which was vacation bible school, and he also sang in the choir, Okeechobee Rodders Classic Car Club where he had a 1946 Ford and then a 1956 Pontiac
He served in the Unites States Air Force from 1955-1959, while he was stationed in Amarillo, Texas he met Carol Ann who became his loving bride of 65 years.
Mr. Hortman was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ella Hortman; brothers, Wilburn Hortman, Foy Hortman and Earl Hortman; sisters, Lois Winters and Myra Pervical; and son, Van Hortman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol Ann Hortman, of Okeechobee; son, Rodney Hortman, of Okeechobee; daughter, Robin Van Deman (Ted), of Okeechobee; five grandchildren, Audra Hortman, Seth Hortman, Mark Tucker, Hannah Hortman, Jonathan "JT" Van Deman; bonus grandchild, Karina Martinez; seven great grandchildren, Autumn Ryleigh, Donavan, Bryce, Darby, Brody, Sage, and Atticus; and a host of well loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Oakview Church. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Oakview Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Linda Mack for her kindness, support, care and love shown to us and to "Mr. Jimmie", also to Hope Hospice for the wonderful care given.
