Jimmie "Jim" Lee Tabor was born in Keota, Oklahoma on August 19, 1940, to Alice (Hayes) and Lynn Tabor. Jim passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 85 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Jim married Shirley (Armitage) Tabor in July 1995 and together they enjoyed traveling, time at the lake, and staying busy with their "projects"!

Jim graduated from Keota High School in 1958 and immediately started working full time at the Yost Lumber in Keota. In October 1963, Jim was hired at OG&E as a Groundsman & Lineman. Over his 38 years with OG&E Jim was known for being a reliable, hard worker and advanced in his career, retiring in 2002 as the Manager of Construction.

Jim was an avid runner and completed the Boston Marathon in 1993 and 1994. He ran the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon eleven times - beginning with the inaugural marathon in 2001. He ran the full marathon annually from 2001 through 2007 and the half marathon from 2009 through 2012 (at 72!). Jim ran in a race almost EVERY weekend. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at the lake house that he built. Jim was a wonderful craftsman and could "MacGyver" any project. He enjoyed the black capped chickadees and the other birds they fed at the lake up to his last trip on the 4th of July. Pop (as known by his family) was a great listener and an incredible man of integrity whose laugh and love of life will be forever cherished.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley Tabor; daughters Michelle Armitage Nisbett, Nicole Armitage, Kristi Tabor Chalk (Michael), and Cynthia "Kim" Tabor Mollman and grandchildren Blake Nisbett and Delaney Nisbett Litle (Jacob), Liam Chalk, Gavin Chalk, Lily Chalk, and Tabor Bien.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Connie Joe, and two infant siblings Larry Lynn and Deborah Lin.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11am at Epiphany of our Lord Catholic Church located at 7336 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73132. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cleats for Kids (C4K) at https://give.cornerstone.cc/okc4k/ or mailed to Cleats for Kids at 720 W Wilshire Blvd. Suite 120, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
