Jimmie Gail VanBlaricom

Jimmie Gail VanBlaricom passed into peace with her eternal Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Elizabeth House Hospice Care in Flat Rock, NC. An eighth generation native of Henderson County and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jimmie Gail was born May 8, 1939, the only child of Ulas and Nellie McCall Duncan. She was a 1957 graduate of Flat Rock High School where she was a cheerleader.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, girl scout leader to her daughter's troop,also never missing her son or grandson's ball games. Her children will be forever grateful for the sacrifices she made and the emphasis she places on good character, good manners, integrity, and living a Christian life.
Jimmie enjoyed playing tennis in her younger years, and loved watching all sports on TV, especially her beloved Braves. She also enjoyed domestic and foreign travel, having been to many countries. A lover of the outdoors, Jimmie enjoyed walks in the woods, picnics, and watching the birds in her yard.
A consummate Southern lady, she was a gracious hostess. Many friends and family got the benefit of her home cooked meals and delicious cakes. She gave generously of her resources to help those in need both locally and abroad. She was employed in various capacities over the years, including as a medical office manager and most recently as a realtor with ReMax.
Jimmie Gail is survived by her loving husband of nearly forty years, John VanBlaricom, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Her memory will also be forever cherished by her daughter, Kimberly Graziano and husband, John, of Flat Rock, and her son Douglas H Shipman II of Mills River. She was a proud "Grams" to her grandson, Tully McCall Graziano. She will be missed greatly and live on in our hearts and the lessons she taught. We were all blessed to have been in her orbit. She endured the past months of physical decline with her usual grace and sweetness, always believing that "tomorrow" she would be restored to the healthy and vigorous lifestyle she had enjoyed and continued to maintain her positive outlook – a hallmark of her life.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 22 at Bethel Wesleyan Church, 909 Tracy Grove Road, Flat Rock, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations may be made in Jimmie Gail's memory to Four Season's Hospice/Elizabeth House, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or Bethel Wesleyan Church.
