Jimmy Anderson

CHEROKEE VILLAGE - Jimmy Wayne Anderson, age 89, of Cherokee Village, was received into his heavenly home on Nov. 18, 2025. Born on Jan. 12, 1936, in Dike, Texas, Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Lois Ann (Crutchfield), and together they shared 69 beautiful years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy D. and Valeria Anderson.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife, Lois, of the home; his daughter, Cyndi (Renny) James of Leachville, and his son, Kevon (Mary) Anderson of Cabot. He was a proud grandfather to Kristyn (Tony) Grayson, Max (Jena) James, Gunnar (Marisa) James, Lexi Anderson, and Sam Anderson, and a beloved great-grandfather to James, Hayden, Coy, Owen, and Hayes Grayson; MJ and Larkin James, and Andersyn and Eileen James. He is also survived by his sister, Vonda Freeman of Cherokee Village; his brother-in-law, Mack Crutchfield of Dallas, Texas, as well as several nieces, cousins, and many close friends.

A lifelong learner and devoted minister, Jimmy graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington, with a degree in Industrial Electrical Engineering; East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He later earned his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, Fla.

After beginning his career as an electrical engineer with Dallas Power & Light, Jimmy faithfully answered God's call to preach. He pastored churches in Texas, Indiana, and Arkansas for 61 years before retiring in 2021. His ministry touched countless lives through his steadfast faith, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to the Gospel.

Jimmy shared his love of stamp collecting, camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. He had a special affection for children and looked forward each year to watching the Little League World Series. Known for his quick wit, warm laugh, and zest for life, Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of joy, kindness, and faithfulness. A celebration of his life is tentatively planned for January 2026.
