ABBEVILLE – Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Ben Davis at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, LA, honoring the life of Jimmy Wayne Becker, 70, who passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery next to his beloved wife. Military honors will be rendered by The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard.
Relatives and friends are invited for visiting hours on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be PJ Best, Mickey Delahoussaye, Larry Becker, Johnny Toups, Daniel Mouton, and Roland “Mooster” Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland “Bubba Joe” Conner and Bradley Duhon.
Jimmy was proud to serve in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1996. He was outspoken and often loved to coach his favorite sports from his recliner. He had a strong passion for competition. He loved his horse races and enjoyed going to the races with his brother, Larry Becker. But his favorite role in life was being “PawPaw” to his three grandchildren.
His life in recent times wasn’t easy, but he did it for them. Through it all, he managed to remain the sarcastic, loving, always-good-for-a-laugh man we all knew - though his family will say he was hard-headed.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather B. Best and her husband, P.J.; and Ashley C. Becker and her companion, Mickey Delahoussaye; grandchildren, Ethan P. Best, Elijah O. Best, and Amelia M. Delahoussaye. Jimmy is also survived by his siblings, Larry J. Becker and his wife, Susan; Julian Ann Duhon; Gloria Faye Becker; Joyce B. Toups and her husband, Johnny; and sister-in-law, Celina Dietz.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-one years, Charlotte Dietz Becker; parents, Ella Mae Hebert Becker and Joseph Nolan Becker; and brother, Nolan “Butch” Becker.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to every nurse, CNA, occupational and physical therapist, housekeeper, dietitian, and doctor who cared for Jimmy within the last year. He was blessed to have the wonderful care teams from Ochsner St. Martin Hospital, Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital, as well as TIRR Memorial Hermann and Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston, TX. Jimmy would not have made it as far as he did, for as long as he did, without the persistence and motivation that he received. But the true determination came from him, and he was too hard-headed not to meet his goals.
