Mr. Bedingfield passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1945, in Limestone County.
Jimmy Bedingfield, a dedicated family man, veteran, and community volunteer, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Buford Sr. and Eva Bedingfield, Jimmy served honorably in the 20th Special Forces division from 1969 to 1988. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Tool & Die Maker, working at Cutler Hammer, Prestolite, and several other die shops before retiring from Delphi.
Jimmy was an avid hunter and a long-time member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club in Tuscaloosa, where he enjoyed over 30 years of camaraderie and outdoor adventures. His love for Alabama football was well-known, and he cherished every moment spent with his family, watching sports together. He was deeply involved in his community, coaching baseball for many years and volunteering with the Priceville Community Recreation Association (PCRA), Priceville Junior High School, and A.P. Brewer High School. His contributions to the baseball and softball programs were invaluable, and he took great pride in supporting and mentoring young athletes. For many years, he was instrumental in the Sports programs. He thoroughly enjoyed watching all sports with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pat Bedingfield, and his children: Scott (Brandy) Bedingfield, Pam (Tojo) Powers, and Ashley (Patrick) McDaniel. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob, Kalyn, Ally Bedingfield and Faith Holmes; Brittney (Phillip) Garrison and their children Parker, Cooper, Maddie, and Hayden; Austin (Jordan) Powers; and Tripp McDaniel. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Bedingfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Sr. and Eva Bedingfield, and his siblings Alton, Mildred, Buford, Wayne, Carolyn Bibb, and Milton Bedingfield.
Jimmy's legacy of service, love for family, and passion for sports will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His life was a testament to dedication, community spirit, and the importance of family.
Pallbearers will be Austin Powers, Jacob Bedingfield, Tripp McDaniel, Tojo Powers, Patrick McDaniel, Phillip Garrison, and Chris Dunn.
