Jimmy Coleman was many things to many people. Devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dependable friend.
Devoted husband to Linda for 53 years. They enjoyed spending time together. From walks on the beach, to quiet evenings at home, which oftentimes turned into an impromptu dance session in the kitchen or the living room. She was truly the love of his life.
He loved his children, rarely missing an opportunity to spend time with them. He attended sporting events and other activities religiously, never failing to show up. He was present in every aspect of his children's lives.
Jimmy was a doting grandfather, more affectionately known as "Bop". He was very proud of his grandchildren and went to great lengths to make sure they all knew just how important they were to him.
Jimmy was a dependable and loyal friend. He was quick to help if called upon, and immensely enjoyed being amongst them. Whether at the golf course, or a card table playing gin or rook, it didn't matter as long as he was around his people.
From serving his country proudly in Vietnam, to teaching for over thirty years, he touched far more lives than he ever realized. Jimmy was the best husband, father, and grandfather he could possibly be. His impact is far greater than he ever knew. He will be missed greatly by many, but never forgotten.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Matthews Coleman; his three children, James Chandler Coleman, John Bryon Coleman and wife, Michelle, and Sarah Jon Paquin and husband, Clinton; four grandchildren, Sydney Erin Coleman, Andrew Fisher Coleman, Cooper Bennett Paquin, Finnley Gray Paquin; brother, Clifford Coleman, Jr. and wife, Shelby.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 1:45 PM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Pleasant Union Christian Church in Lillington. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary with Pastor Greg Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
