STEDMAN
Mr. Jimmy Ray Cook, 78, of Stedman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Praise Fellowship Church of God with Pastor Kevin Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 5:50 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Praise Fellowship Church of God in Fayetteville.
Mr. Cook was a native of Cumberland County, the son of Tracy Cook and Lois Barefoot Cook Bird. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-Father, Lawrence Bird and his Grandparents.
He was retired from the Fayetteville Police Dept. as a Homicide Detective with 20 years of service. He also retired from Fed-Ex with over 20 years of service. He was a funeral assistant at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman. Jimmy was a Nascar fan and was a member of Praise Fellowship Church of God and a mason with Stedman Masonic Lodge, # 730.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy S. Cook; three children, Kim Elmore ( Greg), Tracie Cook and James Cook (Erica); six grandchildren, Dustin Williams (Cierra), Kyle Elmore (Christina), Taylor Elmore, Seth Jacobs, Abigail Cook and Amelia Cook; three great grandchildren, Hailey Williams, London Elmore and Kai Elmore; two sisters, Ann Lewis (Dave) and Brenda Hall (Dale); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brenda and John Hancox; and his fur baby, Soffie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Praise Fellowship Church of God.
