WADESBORO - On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Mr. Jimmy Ray Freeman, 74, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, March 5, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born November 19, 1948 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Callie Marshall Freeman and the late Billie Bernice Privette Freeman. He was a graduate of Anson High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War.
He had worked with the City of Laurinburg and following his retirement he worked as a driver with ACTS, Anson County Transportation Services. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wadesboro.
Those left to cherish his memory are his companion, Kendra Melton; his children, Brandie Kitteredge of Norwood and Tabatha Wyland of Laurinburg; his 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Kendra's children, whom he loved as his own, Sheena Coppin (Philippe) of Monroe and Shannon Simms of Marshville and 3 grandchildren; his brother and sisters, Billy Freeman (Martha) of Mint Hill, Shirley Boyer (Ray) and Carol Boyer (Albert) both of Wadesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Freeman and Kendra's son, Russell Melton.
Jimmy's family is very grateful for all the acts of love and kindness shown to them and especially to Hospice of Union County and the staff of McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe for the loving way in which they cared for him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made either to Calvary Baptist Church, 430 Lansford Dr., Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
