Jimmy Herbert Hatfield, 70 years old, of Newport, TN, peacefully entered into the Kingdom of God on June 1, 2024, while holding his wife, Christy's hand.
Jimmy was a retired coal miner who loved his hometown of Pigeon Creek, WV and talked about memories of his childhood with anyone who would listen.
He was a kind man who loved others and would help anyone in need. Jimmy recently gave his life to God and rested in the assurance that he would be welcomed into the arms of His loving Savior Jesus when he made his transition.
Jimmy "Herb" was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Hatfield; father, Jim Hatfield; son Travas Shane Hatfield; brother Edward Lee Hatfield; sister Sandra Bedics; and sister-in-law, Dolores Hatfield.
He is survived by his wife, Christy Hatfield, who was his caregiver and never left his side. The love they shared was their own special love story. He referred to her as "the love of my life, that's why I made you my wife". He is also survived by stepson Joshua Adams, Jacksonville, FL; brother Richard "Dick" Hatfield, Galax, VA; brother David Wendell Hatfield, Hernando, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
Herb loved his little dog Smokey, who kept him laughing every day. He loved Blizzards from the Dairy Queen, going for ice cream, and riding his side by side.
A celebration of his life is being planned in the near future.
Christy would like to thank all the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice, the staff of Rural Medical Services, and Manes Funeral Home for being there in their time of need.
