Jimmy "Jim Bob" Rae Spicer, 62, of Michigan City, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born on November 11, 1962, in Valparaiso, IN, to Tommy Lawson and MaryAnn (Spicer) Nunez.
On April 26, 2012, he married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Brenda Spicer, who survives.
Jim's heart was fullest when spending time with his two daughters, Annessa (Chris) Deniston and Tressie Meeks, both of La Porte; two sons, Michael Wayne Meeks, Jr. of La Porte and Beau (Wendy) Spicer of Houston, TX; and special dog, Tazzi May Spicer.
His grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He was the proud "Paw" to a special grandson, Adam Salat, Jr. of La Porte and a special granddaughter, Briana Spicer of Houston, TX.
Jim was blessed to be given a special mother-son relationship with Tressie (Sims) Warren of Michigan City. He deeply treasured this relationship with her.
His loving spirit also lives on through his two sisters, Kathi (Mark) Timm of La Porte and Jenny Fortenberry of Michigan City; one brother, Kevin Clemons of Michigan City; and father, Tommy Lawson of West Point, MS.
Jim was welcomed into Heaven by his brother, Scott Clemons, Sr.; grandchildren, Brendon Dale and Miranda Jean Salat; and mother, Mary Ann Nunez.
He worked for the Union as a concrete worker. Jim loved to cook on the grill, complete yard work, and read his Bible. He also had a true love for NASCAR #88, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams--the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings. Most importantly, Jim dearly loved spending time with his wife, family and special dog, Tazzi May. He was a simple man who loved his family with his whole heart.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Private Celebration of Life will be held with the family.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his wife, Brenda Spicer, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN 46350.
Jim's memory will continue to live in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
