James (Jimmy) Mansell, age 86 of Clarksville passed away Saturday, August 24 at his residence.
He was born June 8, 1938 in Montgomery County to Mary Eloise Martin and James Bedford Mansell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Kay Elizabeth Tucker Mansell.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by McReynolds-Nave & Larson and visitation will begin at 11:00 followed by the service at 1:00 by Pastor Jack Webb. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors.
He joined the Navy at the very young age of 17 in October 1955 and served until he retired in 1965. He served proudly and could talk for days on end with all veterans but remained a true sea guy at heart and always wore his navy hats and jackets with the greatest of pride.
Upon returning to Clarksville he worked for the ambulance department both in Clarksville and Fort Campbell, KY.
He is survived by a son, Charles Tucker (Ruthann) Buchanan Dam, Texas, and a daughter Betty Rosson (Johnny) of Clarksville. Two grandchildren Mary Elizabeth McClellan (Stephen) of Clarksville and Tracy Brininstool (Andy) Roswell, Georgia and two great grandchildren.
Jimmy was the baby brother to his surviving sister Geraldine Beatty-Reese of Lewisburg and Shirley Taft of Clarksville who passed on Oct 23, 2021. He loved and was loved by his many nieces and nephews.
There are so many wonderful employees at Uffelman to thank and my very special thanks to all of them. Ms. Tammy, he loved and appreciated you and our family is forever grateful for your unlimited kindness. He truly loved his days at Uffleman and the many friends, laughs and good times had there and they loved him back.
His daughter wishes to express her extreme and unmeasurable gratitude to Mary Birdwell for the love and care provided to her dad. She loved him and he loved her right back!
He will be missed so much by his family, but is now at home in heaven with his wife.
