Jimmy R. Mitchell, Jr., 51, of Columbus, GA passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Hospital. A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Monday, February 1, 2021 beginning at 2:00 pm with Rev. Danny Courtney officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
Jimmy was born on March 3, 1969 in Columbus, GA to Alice Faye Kanouse Mitchell and the late Jimmy R. Mitchell, Sr. He was an Iron Worker with Union Local 387 and attended Bethany Tabernacle. Jimmy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His memory will live forever in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
Other than his father, Jimmy is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Bradley Mitchell, Bailey Ann Mitchell; and grandparents, Lloyd Kanouse, Grace Kanouse, Sam Mitchell and Georgia Mitchell.
Survivors, other than his mother, include his daughter, Shannon Renea "Baby Girl" Puryear (Kenneth); son, Jimmy R. "J.R" Mitchell, III (soulmate, Brionna); brother, Jody Mitchell; grandchildren, Kenneth Sharif Puryear, Jr., Kaiden Isaiah Puryear, and loyal and dedicated girlfriend of several years, Lisa Smith; all of Columbus, GA. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Patricia Lynn "Stump" Mitchell and nephews, Jacob D. Mitchell, Blake A. Mitchell, Michael E. Mitchell, and Zachary Mitchell.
