JIMMY LEE NICHOLS Jimmy "Jim" Lee Nichols, age 77 of Nehawka, passed away on October 16, 2024 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Jim was born August 22, 1947 in Nebraska City, the son of Jesse and Alberta (Redden) Nichols of Nehawka. Jim graduated from Nehawka High School in 1965, and he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda (Weston) on February 24, 1966. They made their home in Union, where Jim spent 32 years as the rural mail carrier for the post office. They had two children, Laura and Jimmy. He enjoyed playing music with Dusty Blue Band for over 40 years. Jim coached baseball, umpired baseball, refereed volleyball, played softball and volleyball, and played with his grandchildren and supported their activities. They returned to his hometown of Nehawka in 1996, where he worked as the town maintenance person for 11 years and retired in January 2024. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda of Nehawka; children, Laura Rose of Nehawka and Jimmy (Jill) Nichols of Florida; grandchildren, Jessica Rose, Brady Rose, and Jake Nichols; mother, Alberta Nichols of Nehawka; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Nichols; grandparents, Rose and Sally Redden, Jesse and Mary Nichols; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Gladys (Thorne) Weston. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Bethel Church in Nebraska City. Private burial will take place at a later date. Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
