Jimmy Nichols Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Mar. 11, 2026.
Jimmy D. Nichols, age 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2026. He was born on April 11, 1957.

Jimmy was a proud U.S. Army veteran who later dedicated more than 20 years of his life working as a respiratory nurse, helping care for others with compassion and dedication. Throughout his life he found peace in the outdoors and had a deep love for nature. Fishing trips, camping under the stars, and time spent at the lake were some of the moments he cherished most.

Music was another constant in Jimmy's life. Blues and classic rock often served as the soundtrack to his days, and for him music and nature always seemed to go hand in hand.

Jimmy faced many personal battles with mental health and substance abuse during his lifetime. Despite those struggles, he often chose to greet the world with a smile and carried a resilient spirit through difficult times.

He is survived by his only son, Carter Nichols; his grandson, Maverick Nichols; his brother, Craig Nichols; and his sister, Kathy McCall.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Nichols; his father, Joseph Nichols; and his sister, Lisa Brady.

In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy's ashes will be spread at Strawberry Reservoir and Lodgepole Campground, places that reflected his love for the outdoors. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

Dad, I hope wherever you are now, you've found the peace that sometimes felt out of reach here. The pain, the struggles, and the battles you fought are finally behind you. I'll think of you when the music plays, when I'm standing near the water, and when I'm out in the quiet of the mountains. Rest easy now. Fly high until we meet again, Dad.
