Jimmy Ochoa was born on October 3, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas to the proud parents Ernesto and Aurora Ochoa. They welcomed their ninth child, Jimmy, the youngest of six brothers and two sisters. He enjoyed life growing up in the Five Points downtown neighborhood near San Pedro Park. Sadly, after a long illness, Jimmy passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 64.
Jimmy had a very active life with his family. As a young boy, he would spend most of his time playing sports outdoors. He and his brothers would spend almost every day at the park playing tennis and football. During the hot summers, Jimmy also enjoyed swimming at San Pedro Park. Jimmy was an avid fan of college and professional sports. He enjoyed attending Texas football games in Austin with his brothers. The time spent with his family was some of the happiest days and best memories of growing up.
Jimmy grew up as a teenager during the 1970s and attended Edison High School. After graduation, he attended San Antonio College. For over twenty years, he worked at Sun Harvest Food Market. Jimmy was a hard-working, loyal, and dedicated employee. Later, he worked for almost fifteen years at JC Food Mart, where he was promoted to Assistant Warehouse Manager. This was a very meaningful job for him as the store promoted healthy food and nutritional education to mothers with infants. His commitment to others and helpful attitude made him well-liked by his fellow employees.
Jimmy had the opportunity to travel to the west coast to visit family in San Diego. He had some of his most unforgettable days traveling throughout Southern California and Mexico spending time with family at the beach and amusement parks in Los Angeles.
Jimmy was always happy, smiling, and friendly to everyone. He was a caring uncle to his nephews and nieces. As the youngest child, he devoted his life to caring for his mother and father. Jimmy spent his early years surrounded by his sisters, Diana and Mary Alice, and his brothers, Ernest, Richard, Sal, Robert, Alfred, and Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Aurora Ochoa, his two older brothers, Ernest and Richard Ochoa, and nephews Michael Ochoa and Roger Villarreal.
His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
As we say goodbye to Jimmy, we celebrate the time we were blessed to share with him. His legacy of love, friendship, and kindness will endure, reminding us to cherish every moment and to live with the same generosity of spirit that Jimmy embodied so beautifully
