Jimmy Kent Offen, 77, of West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Martelle, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Private family burial with military honors will be held at Binghamton Cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.
Born on November 18, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, Jimmy was the son of George and Anne (Manson) Offen. He was united in marriage to Patsy Parker, February 29, 1968 while stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona.
Jimmy served honorably in the United States Air Force for 21 years, earning the rank of Captain. Along with his family, he learned to make lifelong friends quickly wherever he moved to. Jimmy earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and after retiring from the Air Force, he worked for government contractors.
As a man of great faith, Jimmy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions. He was called upon many times to help others fix their cars and do home repairs. Jimmy loved to be of service and tried to have those he served assist him and learn to do the things he helped them with. Mostly, he enjoyed just serving others.
For more than 50 years, Jimmy volunteered with the Boy Scouts Of America. He was on several local Councils. Jimmy's leadership included being a Cub Master and Scout Master as his own sons grew and participated. He helped many fine boys earn the Eagle Rank.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, children, Samantha (Darrin), Stacy, Scott (Clarisse), Sara (Jeff), Steven (Amy), and Shanna (Hugh); 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother, Tommy (Margaret)
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his children Susan, Stanley and Shawn.
