Mr. Jimmy Oglesby was born on July 6, 1951, and raised in Macon, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Myrtis Goolsby and stepson of Harold Goolsby. Jimmy was educated in the Bibb County Public School System. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Military.
Following his service, Jimmy built a lasting career with S&S; Cafeteria, where he was known for his strong work ethic, warm smile, and friendly spirit.
Although an only child, Jimmy's life was rich with love from his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children, Matrisce Joseph (Randy) and Anthony Oglesby (Stacey); and a host of grandchildren who brought him great joy: Kenyetta Oglesby, Amandon West, Malandon West, Keywonna Taylor (Darius), Anthony Oglesby Jr., Quaman Robinson, Torciyah Davis (Joshua), Zyndia Robinson, Keyaira McMillian, Jamal Oglesby, and Keshon Oglesby. He is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Myrtis Goolsby; his stepfather, Harold Goolsby; the mother of his children and dear friend, Lois Smith; his uncles Walter James Oglesby, Bonner Oglesby, and Earnest Oglesby; and his aunts Martha Rogers and Pearlie Mae Oglesby.
He also leaves behind his dear friends, Lucille Davis and Eloise Jackson, who shared in many of life's moments and whose friendship brought him lasting joy and comfort.
Jimmy will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel special. He was a man of quiet strength whose legacy of love and family will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him most.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that Jimmy has transitioned to eternal rest-free from pain and surrounded by God's everlasting love. He was a light in this world and he never let that light grow dim. Even in his later years, Jimmy took pride in doing things his own way. His independence reflected his strength, resilience, and determination to live life on his own terms. He faced every season with grace and courage, reminding us all that true strength is quiet, steady, and unwavering.
