Jimmy Wayne Ohern, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away on November 9, 2025. He was born on February 13, 1946, the son of the late Bryce and Letha May (Kyser) Ohern.
Jimmy attended Wichita Falls High School in Texas and went on to graduate from Minot State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work.
For 18½ years, Jimmy worked as a Caseworker for the Missouri Department of Corrections, serving at the Missouri State Penitentiary, Church Farm Prison, Algoa Prison, and the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center. He later worked for Probation and Parole in Callaway County until his retirement. During his time with them he earned the Dudley Award for his knowledge, actions, and assisting with Domestic Violence situations.
Outside of work, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, shooting, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed writing so much he became a self-published author of the book "The Awakening". He was an active member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Straight out of high school, he joined the Texas National Guard before going on to serve his country in the United States Army, then on to the United States Air Force.
Jimmy's greatest joy in life was leading others to the Lord. He was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton. His servant's heart led him to help others at every opportunity. He worked with SERVE of Callaway County driving patients to their medical appointments. He also worked with Compass providing hospice care and comfort to clients.
On November 15th, 1997, he married the love of his life Lura Diane Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; sons, Jared Ohern of North Carolina, Jason Ohern of Raymore, Missouri, and Darin (Samantha) Ohern of Springfield, Missouri; daughters, Londa K. Weems (Roger) of Springfield, Missouri, Angela Cayton of North Carolina, and Danielle Ohern of Blue Springs, Missouri; stepdaughter, Meg Ponder (Rocky) of New Bloomfield, Missouri; sisters, Nancy Frasier of Delaware, Thresa Hughes (Dub) of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Virginia Green of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Sherry Ohern; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Slater-Millard Funeral Home in Holts Summit on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
