Memorial graveside services for Jimmy Gregory Phillips, Sr., 63, of Greenville will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden, MS. There will be a visitation from 10:00-12:00 on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He fought hard to stay with his family and although his spirit was strong, his earthly body was tired.

Jimmy was born on May 5, 1959 in Greenville, MS to Jimmie and Maydeen Phillips. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1977. On July 15, 1979 he married Shirley Welch at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville. Together they had two sons, Jimmy Gregory Phillips, Jr. and John Patrick Phillips. Jimmy worked at Sears Auto Center as a mechanic for the majority of his career until retirement. Following retirement, Jimmy spent the last 13 years as a dedicated and loving caregiver to his son "Greg".

Jimmy was an avid hunter and enjoyed being outdoors in the place he loved most, Carroll County. When not outdoors he enjoyed spending time with the ones he loved most, his wife, his two sons, and his granddaughter. He was a good man, husband, and father and took great pride in being a grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Lewis Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Phillips; two sons, Jimmy Gregory Phillips, Jr. and John Patrick "J.P." Phillips (Cassidy); granddaughter, Adalyn Grace Phillips; mother, Maydeen Phillips Lee; siblings, Lewis Phillips (Pam), Ken Phillips (Amy) and Tammie Hudgins (Kerry); and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Hopkins Lyme Disease Research Center, John Hopkins University and Medicine, Attn: Dept. of Medicine/Lyme Disease Research Center, P.O. Box 49143, Baltimore, MD 21297-9143.
