Jerlene, Lynn, Gary; We two are the sole remaining representatives of the Murray Hulse family that shared so many of the friendship blessings bestowed by Jimmy and Jerlene over the decades. Though we cannot attend the Memorial, we feel that Jimmy would be pleased by our donation in his Memory to the PGA jr Reach scholarship. To remember the friendship and love the Sullivans showed to Frances and Pete over the years, and us, by association, fills our hearts. As most have already acknowledged, Jimmy was a jewel that will, and is, certainly missed.
Love from the Hulses you have touched, Bob and Deb

I was saddened to learn of Jimmy's passing, and I send my heartfelt condolences to Jerlene, Gary, and Lynn, and their families. Jimmy was my first boss. I worked for him at the Murray CC Pro Shop as a teenager in the late 60's-early 70's, and I got to know Jimmy and his family quite well during that time. I greatly admired Jimmy for his incredible work ethic, his honesty, his strong family values, and his congenial personality and playful sense of humor. In short he was a fantastic boss and wonderful role model for me, and I treasure the memory of those years.

I will share one anecdote from that time that sticks in my mind as it illustrates Jimmy's calm and steady demeanor, and his patience with having some young kid like me working for him. It concerns the time that the Pro Shop was robbed. During the middle of the night, thieves used a golf cart to crash through the front door and then proceeded to load up some large bags with merchandise and drag the loot out to a waiting car for a clean getaway. When I arrived at work bright and early the next morning I groggily walked into the Pro Shop and greeted Jimmy who was standing behind the counter with a look of flustered resignation on his face. Sensing that something was on his mind I asked him what was going on. At that point he gave me a wry smile and said, Don't you notice anything different about the Pro Shop today? Only then did I realize I was standing in the middle of a half-empty shop with the bashed in front door hanging by one hinge and leaning against the wall. Ohhhh, I said, What happened? Jimmy then chuckled at my obliviousness, and from that day on would good-naturedly chide me about my clueless reaction that day.

I have so many wonderful memories of those times at the Pro Shop with Jimmy, Jerlene, Gary and Lynn, and I know I am not alone in recognizing what a wonderful man Jimmy was and the legacy he has left behind.

Your Father was so good to me back when I couldn't be good to myself. He will be missed. Rest easy, Jimmy. Rest easy.

Jimmy was a good human being and his tips were always spot on and true to form. He was a golf professional in the truest sense as he always put others ahead of himself. We will miss him, his advice, and his skill on Sullivan's Par Three course.
