Jimson Gene Bluebird

Jimson Gene Bluebird was born on May 8, 1939, in Tahlequah, OK, to Johnson & Emma (Buckskin) Bluebird. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Salina, OK, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, & 24 days.
Growing up, Jimson attended school at Cave Springs near Locust Grove. He was a lifetime Mayes & Cherokee County resident. On October 4, 1974, Jimson & Mary Ann Rowe were united in marriage. Together they made their home in Peggs, OK, until Mary Ann's passing in 1999.
In his younger years, Jimson could be found gigging for fish & crawdad hunting. He also liked boxing, with anyone that wanted to go up against him in a match. Jimson was known as a hard worker having spent many years working for GRDA & at Kaiser in Pryor, OK. He had been a member of the Peggs Community Church, where he would donate his time to help keep the church yard clean & mowed. He loved to mow & enjoyed taking care of his own lawn at home, as well as planting flowers.
Jimson had been a part of a local bowling league in Pryor for many years. Bowling was one of his favorite pastimes. Over the years, he would take care of any stray animals that would stop at the home until they decided to leave. He was a caring individual that loved to tease people and was known for his orneriness.
Jimson liked to watch football, always rooting for his two favorite teams, the OU Sooners & the Dallas Cowboys. He could be seen at local sporting events, watching his great nephews play in their younger years. Above all, Jimson enjoyed & treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren & great grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew & loved him.
Jimson is survived by: Stepson: John Lewis & wife Cheryl of Peggs, OK, 4 Grandchildren: Carey Lewis & wife Shelby of Bartlesville, OK, Ashley Lewis of Peggs, OK, Joshua Lewis & wife Marissa of Kansas, OK, and Lydia Rega & husband Chris of Prairie Grove, AR, 3 great-grandchildren: Dason Lewis, Kade Lewis, & Saylor Rega; 1 brother: Billy Dean Bluebird & wife Betty of Locust Grove, OK; Numerous nieces & nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife: Mary Ann Bluebird; 1 step-son: Darryl Lewis; 2 brothers: George Bluebird & Johnny Bluebird; & 4 sisters: Mary Bluebird, Pearl Vaughn, Judy Abbs, & baby sister Bluebird; & 1 niece: Susan Bluebird.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 8, 2024 at Peggs Community Church in Peggs, OK. Reverend Rex Henrickson & Reverend Mike Parrish will officiate. Interment will follow at McClain Cemetery near Locust Grove, OK. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home in Locust Grove, OK.
