Mrs. Jo Ann (Whitton) Gullion, age 80, of Mt. Sterling, Indiana, passed away at 9:20 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. She was born on January 23, 1945 in Vevay, Indiana to Harry and Juanita (Trinkle) Whitton. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary for several years. Jo Ann graduated from the Vevay High School, class of 1963, where she was voted homemaker of the year. Jo Ann was united in marriage on June 1, 1963 to James "Butch" H. Gullion at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church near Pleasant, Indiana. In 1966, they purchased their forever home in Mt. Sterling, Indiana, where they shared over 62 years of devoted marriage, blessed with three children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought them immense pride and joy. Jo Ann also took pride in working alongside her husband, Butch, raising tobacco, and in the early years of their marriage, she also helped tend his parents' farm on Fairview Road. After Butch's father's passing, his mother, Marge, moved to Mount Sterling to be near Butch and Jo Ann, who lovingly cared for her until her passing. Jo Ann had a deep love for the outdoors and took great joy in maintaining her yard, tending to her many flowers, feeding the birds, swimming, and fishing. She also enjoyed painting the many projects Butch made in his workshop. Above all, she cherished her family - especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren - and found great happiness in cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her homemade carrot cakes were a special favorite, lovingly made and fondly remembered.
