Jo Ann Hite, 79, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024. Jo was known for her profound love of nature, particularly her passion for flowers, gardening, and the joy she found in watching birds. Her home was a vibrant testament to her green thumb, a sanctuary where her plants flourished under her careful nurturing.
A devoted fan of Jeff Gordon and a fiery admirer of Ricky Van Shelton, Jo Ann’s enthusiasm for her interests was infectious and brought much joy to those around her. Despite her many passions, Jo Ann's greatest love was her family. She cherished hosting family meals and creating warm, welcoming gatherings that became treasured memories for all who attended.
Jo Ann’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her unwavering devotion to her Lord Jesus provided her with comfort and strength throughout her life. Her legacy is one of love, devotion, and a deep connection to both her family and her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Kate and George Lee Hite; sisters, Shirley Mae and husband Bert Galloway, Patsy and husband James Lawson; and brother, Jerry Glen Hite and wife Barbara "Sis".
Jo Ann is survived by her sisters, Bevelene Ferguson and Connie Hensley (Mike); brothers, Fred Hite (Janice), Tom Hite (Pauletta), Robert Hite (Alice), and James Hite (Charlotte); and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Graveside services will follow at Hite Family Cemetery in Rock Springs.
