Jo Ellen Lagow

Jo Ellen Lagow, age 86, departed this earthly home surrounded by her loving husband and daughter on August 24, 2024 at home in Mound, MN.
She was born on January 2, 1938 in West Monroe, LA.
Jo is survived by her husband of 20 years Dewey Lagow, and her children Jan Whittington LaBure (Chris), and Greg Whittington, (3) grandchildren, Christopher Whittington LaBure (Kelly), Chase Whittington LaBure (Courtney) and Hunter Whittington.
She is also survived by her stepdaughter Rene Lagow Sanders (Brian), step daughter Serena Lagow Corbet, and step-grandchildren Tyson Sanders, Andy Corbet and Lexi Corbet.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Don Whittington, Mary Catherine Riser (sister), Jerry Medaries (brother), Larry Medaries (brother), Evelyn Johnson Merritt (mother) and Duke Medaries (father).
Jo graduated from West Monroe High School and worked for a time as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Co. She is a former resident of West Monroe, LA, River Ridge, LA and lastly of Mound, MN, but traveled extensively throughout her life in the United States.
Jo was a former beauty consultant for Estée Lauder at Dillard's stores. She was an excellent seamstress. She could make just about anything with material and thread.
She was a Bridge player, loved playing cards, and enjoyed her trips with her grandchildren to Disneyworld, Williamsburg, and Boston. She was a member of the United Methodist Church wherever she resided, in West Monroe at Asbury UMC, St. Paul's UMC in River Ridge, and at Bethel UMC in Mound.
Friends are invited to attend visitation, Thursday, from 9-10AM at Bethel UMC in Mound, MN, followed by a memorial service at 10AM.
Burial will follow in Mankato, MN. at Mount Olivette Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Bethel UMC in her honor and memory.
