Jo Alyn Thomas, a resident of Bogalusa, LA passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. She was born in Bogalusa, LA on September 22, 1939, to Buford Alan and Marguerite Perrette. She grew up in Bogalusa where she met and married the love of her life, Wilson David "Squirrel" Thomas Jr on December 4, 1957. They remained steadfast and true to each other for 65 wonderful years.
Jo Alyn was a charter member of the Civic League in Bogalusa and was also a charter member of the MCCA group, Aphrodite. She was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church. She worked at Charity Hospital and was also an excellent homemaker. She was the definition of "Mother" and was fiercely protective of her family and loved unconditionally. She loved to dance, play cards, read, travel and was an avid shopper.
Jo Alyn is survived by four sons, Wilson David Thomas, III of Bogalusa, LA, Buford Darryl (Mary) Thomas of Bogalusa, LA, Dean Alan (Shannon) Thomas of Covington, GA, and Danyon Shawn Thomas of Covington, LA; grandchildren, Brooke Rowell, Allie Harris, Dean Thomas, Jr., Molly Thomas, Danyon Thomas, Jr., Beau Thomas, and Asher Thomas; great grandchildren, Cole, Carter, and Carlee Rowell; ElaKate Smith; Avery Harris; and Noah Torgerson; and her sisters, Ethel Perrette Cucullu and Barbara Perrette Lee.
Jo Alyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson David "Squirrel" Thomas Jr, her parents, Buford Alan and Marguerite Perrette, and a great granddaughter, Emery Ann Harris.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until time for the service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Clay Norwood officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Superior Avenue Baptist Church New Building fund.
Entombment to follow in the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum, in Ponemah Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Eli Rowell, Cole Rowell, Drew Harris, Dean Thomas, Jr., Danyon Thomas, Jr., and Rex Alan Perrette.
