Joan C. Alfini

Joan Alfini peacefully passed away at home in Elmhurst, Illinois surrounded by her family and incredible caregivers.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, and nurse, living her values of putting family and friends first. She loved working as a nurse, especially caring for the elderly at Oak Ridge Convalescent Home where she was Director of Nursing. She enjoyed being active in bowling, tennis, and golf leagues.

Joan's passion was cards. Whether participating in a heated bridge club tournament, as a playing partner with Ralph, or teaching her grandchildren cribbage, she knew that some of the simple rules of cards were helpful in teaching life lessons. Joan met many wonderful friends through her bridge club associations.

Always a gracious host and wonderful cook, Joan's dinners, holiday parties, and football watch events were legendary. Her home was a place where family and friends (especially the four-legged variety) were always welcome.

Her smile, laughter and fun loving spirit will be forever missed but never forgotten.

Visitation Friday, February 23, 2024, 9:15 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, 779 South York Rd., (at Madison), Elmhurst.
