Joan M. Below

Joan M. Below, age 98 of Neenah, passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025. Joan was born on March 14, 1927, daughter of the late Lawrence and Mabel (Droske) Van Rooy. Joan was one of ten children born to Lawrence and Mabel. She thoroughly enjoyed her life with her close-knit family and frequently reflected on the fond memories that were created with her siblings.
Joan married Robert Below on March 6, 1953. Together they had three children, Robert, Jayne, and Sharon. She was an active participant in her husband's profession as a golf pro and spent many winters with him in Florida. Additionally, she was involved in a golf league and bowling league of her own and had the trophies to show for it! She enjoyed a close group of women friends who joined together monthly for card club. And was a dedicated blood donor for The American Red Cross.
After her nearly 20-year career at Neenah City Hall where she was so well liked by all, Joan immersed herself in the Saint Margaret Mary Parish. She was especially dedicated to the Legion of Mary, Adoration, praying the Rosary and brought communion to shut-ins.
She will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 13, 2025, at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church 620 Division St., Neenah. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will also be a Rosary led at 9:30 a.m. Lunch to follow at church after the Mass. Burial will be in St. Margaret Cemetery.
