Joan (Woods) Day, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, formerly of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at her home in Greenville.
She was born on May 3, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Lester and Helen (Dixon) Woods.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Day, Sr.; her daughter, Dale Lynn Castimore; her grandson, Daniel Castimore; and her siblings, Ann (Hugh) Dane Lanktree and Charles Woods.
Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Colleen (Brad Miles) Watkins of Greenville; her grandchildren, Alec (Kelsey McClure) Watkins, Kyle Wydner, and Steven Wydner; and her great grandson, Wylder Watkins.
Joan thoroughly enjoyed traveling across the country with her beloved husband, Virgil, creating countless cherished memories along the way. She was known for her strong work ethic, a quality she proudly passed down to her children and grandchildren through both example and encouragement. Above all else, Joan deeply loved her family and treasured every moment spent together. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet time, being surrounded by her loved ones brought her the greatest joy. While in Greenville, Joan would often attend Faith Baptist Church with her dear friend, Mrs. Ester Blankenship.
Joan will be laid to rest during a private family service on Cedar Island in North Carolina beside her husband.
