Joan E. Dern

Joan Elizabeth Dern,aged 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2026.

Joan was born on April 23, 1932. She was married to John (Jack) Dern on February 23, 1952. To that union, they were blessed with two children, Mark Dern and Jane (Dern) Foat. They were married until Jacks’ death in 2008. Joan was a member of St Paul’s Church in Sheboygan, WI, and was very active within the church, serving with the Alter Guild and other positions.

Preceded in Death were her parents Harvey R. and Frances E. (Conrad) Hensel, her husband Jack, and her son Mark.

Left to mourn are her Daughter Jane Foat (Gary), her daughter-in-law Katie Dern, her grandchildren Bridgete Elmer (Henry), Christian Ladwig, Jacqeline Ladwig (Andrew), Jonathan Ladwig (Ashlea), Step-Grandchildren Kristine Turcotte, Jacqueline (Michael) Skroch. Also left to mourn are her great-Grandchildren, Caleb Ladwig, Ethan Elmer, Kaden Elmer, Ella Newcomb, Andrew Murnane Jr., Aubrey Ladwig, Ellie Turcotte, and Molly Skroch. She also leaves a Great-Great Grandchild, Luna Ladwig, Her special friends Mark and Cheryl Janey, and their daughter Annie, along with many other friends along the way.

The family would like to thank The Shores of Sheboygan for their care in the last few years, and to Sharon Richardson Hospice for their help and care in the last weeks.
