It is with the deepest sadness that the family of JoAn Marva (Brown) Ekstrom announces her passing. JoAn returned to her heavenly home peacefully while surrounded by love on Tuesday March 5th, 2024, at the age of 83.
JoAn was born on August 10, 1940, to Charles Elden Kingston and Afton Alice Ann Brown in Salt Lake City, UT. She married her soulmate, Alton Frank Ekstrom, on January 20th, 1962, and soon after began their family, having 3 daughters and 5 sons.
JoAn will lovingly be remembered by her husband, 8 children (Susan, Brenda, Robert "York", Catherine, Jason, David, Steven, and Martin), 18 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Her brothers (David and Vern Brown) and her sister (Annabelle Smith). She was greeted in heaven by her parents, brothers (Derral and Lionel Brown), and sister (Verla Dye).
A celebration of her life will be on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. A short graveside service will be held the following day March 12, 2024 at 1 PM Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah 84010.

She is a very sweet, kind, loving soul. She always had a smile on her face no matter what life threw at her. I will miss seeing her when I visit Alton. She was always very thoughtful and will be deeply missed. My condolences to the amazing family that she has.

Dear Family,
I was saddened to hear of JoAn´s passing, and I pray you´ll find comfort in the many wonderful memories you all have, of the times you´ve shared with her through the years. I have a lot of special memories of the visits my husband Gordon and I shared with Alton and JoAn as well at their beautiful home, and I appreciate the privilege of knowing them both!
