Joan (affectionately known as Joanie, Grammy, and Biggie) 91, of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Joan was the daughter of the late Mary Vaudo Renaccio and Anthony Renaccio. She was the beloved wife of the late James G. Elwood, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.
Joan was a devoted mother to Richard J. Hutton (deceased), Mark A. Hutton and his wife Julia, Debra Grant, Michael Hutton and his wife Karen, Mary Ellen Mastacouris and her husband Peter, James E. Elwood, and Eleanor Ellis and her husband Scott.
She was a cherished grandmother to John (deceased) and Tommy Grant; Lindsay, Michael and Casey Hutton; Evan and Alex Hutton (deceased); Sarah, Steven and Megan Ellis; Nicole and Stephanie Mastacouris, along with 9 great grandchildren.
Joan is also survived by her loving siblings Mary Renaccio and Anthony Renaccio and was predeceased by her brother Michael Renaccio.
Joan was a kind and caring mother who was always there for her children. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved, and her warm smile could light up any room. Known as the best dancer around, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Joan loved reading, playing the keyboard, attending bone-building classes, going to the senior center, music and going for walks.
Joan made everyone welcome, especially with her delicious Italian cooking. You could not go to "Joanies" without eating!
In her later years, she was lovingly cared for by her son James, who gave back to her the same devotion, love, and tenderness she had always shown her family.
Joan will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, 10:00AM at St. Andrew Church in Billerica, Massachusetts. 45 Talbot Ave, North Billerica, MA 01862. Following the Mass, family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Joan's beautiful life at the Billerica Country Club, 15 Baldwin Road.
