It is with profound sadness and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Joan Laura Garcia, 88, who departed from this life peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Edinburg, Texas. Born on August 7, 1937, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Joan graced the world with her loving spirit and dedicated heart.
Joan was a devoted mother and a cherished friend to many, whose kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her friends spoke to her character and spirit.
Joan is survived by her beloved daughter, Danette G. Villarreal (Jose Luis), and her cherished son, Michael A. Garcia. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Laura Lopez, David Romero, Bianca Cintron, Larissa Mendiola, Lizette Wennermark and 12 great-grandchildren. The love they shared with their Joan is a testament to the countless memories created over the years-a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and shared experiences.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Carver and Helen Huebner; two brothers, Richard Carver, Fred Craver; two sisters, Gladys Carver and Royanne Roberts.
In celebration of Joan's life, a visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.
As per her wishes, Mrs. Garcia will be cremated.
As we reflect on Joan's remarkable life, let us remember her unwavering spirit and unyielding love. While she may have departed from our sight, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We invite all who knew her to join us in honoring a life well-lived, filled with kindness, compassion, and a fierce love for her family.
