Joan Gropper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. - Charlotte Hall on Jun. 16, 2025.
Joan Sue Gropper, a longtime resident of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on September 3, 1936, to Jon and Elizabeth Stone, Joan spent more than five decades in Mechanicsville, where she built a life marked by dedication to her work in administration and a love for bowling-a favorite pastime that brought her joy and a sense of community.
Joan shared 40 loving years of marriage with her late husband, Manuel Joseph Gropper Jr. Together, they built a home filled with love and warmth. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cindy Trevett, and son-in-law, Daniel Trevett, of Roanoke, Virginia. Joan was a proud grandmother to Alicia Perdue (Matthew) and Joshua Trevett (Megan), and a doting great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren: Micah Perdue, Major Perdue, Bryleigh Trevett, and Natalee Trevett. She also leaves behind her twin brother, Jon A. Stone.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Saye, Audrey Dennis, Phyllis Marion, and Virginia Wald, as well as her beloved miniature poodle, Wally.
Joan's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness, sense of humor, and deep love for her family will be missed beyond measure.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, located at 30195 Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Prayers, officiated by Reverend Peter Ackerman, will take place at 7:00 p.m.
Joan will be laid to rest on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, located at 3401 Bladensburg Road in Brentwood, Maryland. Reverend Peter Ackerman will deliver a graveside committal service.
