Joan Fasting Heap

Joan Fasting Heap passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 6, 1932, but moved to New Orleans, LA, as a young child. She is the daughter of the late Holger Fabricious Fasting and Helen Haynes Fasting, sister of Shirley Fasting Folse. She was the devoted, adoring wife to the late Joseph Lawrence Heap, Sr. and a fabulous mother to six loving children: the late Joseph L. Heap, Jr., Kent F. Heap, Sr. and his wife Cathy, Holle Heap Corenblith and her husband Arthur, Donna Heap Zeigler and her husband Sean, Holger Fasting Heap and his wife Autumn, and Charlotte Heap Shelley and her husband Chris. Joan was preceded in death by her granddaughter Kelsey A. Heap and is survived by 11 grandchildren: Christian (Katie), Kenyon (Melody), Joseph III, Kent Jr., Mitchell, Katelyn, Korey, Sean, Wyatt, Wade, and Cooper, and a host of nieces and nephews. She has many friends with her two closest being MarySue Griffith and Paula Shaffer. A woman of strong faith, Joan was a long-time parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and St. Peter's Catholic Church. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She loved to laugh and tell stories of her fun-filled, wonderful life. The family wishes to thank St. Tammany Hospital and Modern Home Health for taking such good care of Joan in her final days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington, LA, on Friday, June 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass will be held at 11:00. A burial service will be held in All Saints Mausoleum at Lakelawn Funeral Home on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
