Joan Diaz Jernigan, 73, passed Sunday, November 17, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Joan was born in El Paso, TX on March 28, 1951. She graduated from Dell City High School. She then went on to work at Luby's in El Paso. She married her first husband, Daniel in 1971 and they had three wonderful daughters together. In her later years she went off to work for YISD and then met the love of her life, Richard and they married in 1995. She loved her family, especially her five grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies included cooking, sewing, and shopping.
Joan was preceded in death by her father Jose Diaz.
She leaves behind her mother Matilda Diaz, her brother Johnny and sister Linda Diaz. Her husband Richard, her daughters Denise, Michelle, and Krisiann. Her grandchildren Brandi, Avina, Samuel, J.D., and Ariel.
She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service to follow at 2:00pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
