Joan Lorraine Johnson

Joan Lorraine Johnson, daughter of Charles Yount Spoon and Pansy Elizabeth (Miler) Spoon, was born on July 17, 1939, in Osceola, Iowa, and passed from this life on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home near Murray, Iowa. She was 85 years of age.

Joan was raised in Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School with the Class of 1958. On August 30, 1959, she was united in marriage to Trenneth Orrin Johnson at the Osceola Foursquare Church. Together, they were blessed with four children: Shelly, Monte, Michael, and Shana.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Joan dedicated herself to raising her family. Once her children were grown, she began working outside the home, first at Boyt Manufacturing from 1989 to 1997, and later at Osceola Foods until her retirement in 2004.

Joan's greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent with her ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and was always ready with a warm hug, a kind word, and a loving heart. She enjoyed quilting, painting, and tending to her flower garden. Joan was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Afton Assembly of God Church, where her faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pansy Spoon; her sister, Joyce Kelso; and her brother, Ronald Spoon.

Left to honor her memory are her husband, Trenneth Johnson of Murray, IA; her children: Shelly (Brad) Lemons of Siloam Springs, AR; Monte (Kim) Johnson of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Michael Jon (Melanie) Johnson of Creston, IA; and Shana (Mike) Hauge of Mt. Ayr, IA. Joan also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with her grandson, Charles Johnson, officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
