Joan Joyce

I was scouted to play with the CT Falcons out of high school. I met Ms Joyce and was impressed beyond words. My life took a different direction but I will never forget how professional and gracious she was to me. 98 mph all the way to heaven

So sorry on her passing. Joan and I had many times together at Scovill in Watergury challenging her volleyball team at the SERA. She asked me to warm her up at a softball match and I never came close to hitting a ball. I did see Joan when the LPGA played at my country club in Dallas and was thrilled that she remembered me and could spend some time together. My condolences to the family. She was a special lady.

RIP Joan. You will be missed. I enjoyed so playing with and against you in Stratford in the 60's. You have now passed the beautiful rainbow and are with all the other great sports stars. You were the best.

Joan Joyce was, without a doubt, the greatest woman fastpitch softball player to play the game. One of my prized possessions is an 11x8 glossy of my catching a pitch with Joan at the plate during a 1972 pre-national tournament game in Stratford. The Portland softball community [Ern Lind Florists and Dave Lee Sports] are deeply saddened by her passing, but also honored to have competed against her. You will always be the BEST!

Joan was blessed with remarkable talent and versatility, and the desire to realize said and to help others be their best. Her many feats of skill were legendary. Rest in peace.

I was sad to hear of Joans passing. I was young child when I first saw her play softball ( Waterbury CT). Her younger sister Candace and I would play in the park area (we were about 9-10 years old at the time) I still can recall her pitching and how practically no one could get a hit! She truly was one of the greatest, whether it was softball, tennis and golf, she was a truly gifted and wonderful athlete.

I played golf with Joan Joyce at Chase Hammond G.C. in Muskegon, Michigan at a LPGA exhibition and we took 2nd place. We had a great time playing golf, having lunch (fish boil) and a couple of cocktails (me) talking about golf. A very fine and talented lady.

R.I.P Joan I will never forget watching you play growing up on the field my grandpa built and maintained . You leave this earth with a wonderful legacy. Condolences to the Joyce family.

So sorry. Ms. Joyce was my gym teacher at Bethel High school. We all loved and respected her. So fortunate to have known her.

I watched her pitch in New Haven Conn. in the early 60's what sight, never to forget.

I am so very sorry for your loss of your sister Joan. I did not know her, but always heard of her sports fame as a kid.
I went to Webster School, and was in your grade. Maybe you remember me.
I never met Joan, but whenever walking up Tudor Street by the steps of your house, I would think of her.
