Joan Slaughter Kirk, 96, of Kenbridge, Va., joined her family in Heaven on March 7, 2026. She was the wife of the late John Richard Kirk; daughter of the late Richard Harvey Slaughter and Gladys Bishop Slaughter; sister of the late Peggy Louise Slaughter and Rae Spence and step-grandmother of the late Jake Valentine. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Mark Dunnigan; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Wanda Kirk; three grandsons, Rick Kirk, Billy Kirk and Kyle Dunnigan; four great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Joan was a lifetime member of Perseverance Christian Church. She worked taking care of others. She enjoyed her flower garden and earlier in life she enjoyed being a part of the Garden Club and hosting Rook parties. A Celebration of her life will be held 6PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Perseverance Christian Church, Dundas, Va. 23938.
