Joan E. (Boettger) McElroy, 88,
Joan McElroy, 88, wife of Richard L. McElroy passed away Saturday February 18, 2023 in the Reading Hospital.
One of two daughters, Joan was born May 15, 1934 in Limerick Township to the late Otto Boettger and the late Loretta Fulmer. Joan was described as a "mother to all". There were so many beautiful stories of her care and oversight of Richards six siblings and to anyone who needed a mother.
Joan had a creative eye and worked in floral design and helped at the Pennypacker Greenhouse. Her claim to fame was her ability to embroider using a specialty circular embroidery machine where she would make intricate flags and banners. Her embroidery is all over the world including on the Moon!
Free time was usually spent on water and being active. Joan enjoyed water skiing, ice skating and snow -mobiling locally and on the Bay at the Northeast, MD. She enjoyed bluegrass music and festivals. Joan was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Spring City.
Joan leaves behind her husband and lifetime love of 70 years, Richard McElroy, only daughter, Jeannie Frick (John); two grandsons: Alan Frick and Douglas Frick (Jen) and one great granddaughter, Violet Frick and extended family: sister: Loretta Keown (Ronald and nephew, Blaine Stokley (Rhonda)
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday February 25 in Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 25 Pennhurst Road, Spring City with Rev. Jeff Cauffman & Rev. Richard Corbin officiating.
Visitation prior to the Funeral Service will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25 at Faith Bible Fellowship Church.
Burial will be immediately following in the Brownbacks United Church Of Christ.

Online condolences can be made at www.sgsfuneralhome.com. All arrangements are being handled by Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Inc Spring City, PA.
