Joan Kay Metoyer

Joan Kay Smith Metoyer, entered the Lord's house peacefully with the spirit of Christianity due to natural causes on June 13, 2025. She was born July 11, 1937. Joan worked as a licensed Dietician at various hospitals in New Orleans and Metairie, Louisiana. Joan also completed a Certified Dietary Nursing Assistant Program through Charity Hospital and Delgado Community College in New Orleans. She was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen HIgh School and was also a member of many social and pleasure clubs. Joan was a hIgh spirited woman who was most loved and will leave behind many memories. She was the daughter of the late Elvina Sullivan Natalia Smith Laurent and the late Charles Aragon Smith Sr. She was the granddaughter of the late Estelle Sullivan Barconey Phillips and the late Giuseppe Antonio Natalia of Sicily, Italy. She was the great granddaughter of the late Elvina Sullivan and Cecilia and Gustavo Natalia of Sicily, Italy. Joan Kay Smith Metoyer is the mother of Terrance Metoyer, Michael Metoyer, Keith Metoyer and the late Dimitris Metoyer. Beloved sister of Venessa Laurent Jones, Denise Lopez and the late Charles Aragon Smith Jr. Grandmother of Juanika, Joshua, Chelsey, Kiandra, Michael II, Bianca, Mario, Ashley, Monique, Margo and Keith Jr. She's also survived by two brothers-in-law, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, three aunts, cousins and friends. Joan was the former first wife of Marvin Metoyer. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service for Joan Kay Smith Metoyer on Saturday June 21, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Sunlight Baptist Church 4724 Coliseum Street, New Orleans, La. 70115. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Rev. Herman Williams officiating. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Dr. Metairie, La. 70003.
