Joan moved to Woodbury her senior year and graduated from Woodbury High School. Joan met her husband Richard on a double date with their friends Tom and Judy. They were married for 62 years. Joan, Richard, Tom and Judy remained life long friends. She shared her time as a Girl Scout leader with the Daretown Troop where she learned to snow ski and went white water rafting. Joan was an avid reader and loved playing Scrabble. She could not be beat at playing Gin Rummy. Socially, Joan enjoyed many get togethers and destination vacations with her high school friends that she referred to as "The Girls Club". Most of all, Joan loved being surrounded by her family. Joan especially enjoyed debating politics, with her late brother, George Stiegler. She cherished watching movies with her grandson Brandon, and going to the movies with her great grandchildren Jax and Grace. Joan loved going to lunch and shopping with her granddaughter Brittany. She loved reading her granddaughter Madison's creative writing, and watching her grand daughter Hayden ride her horse Benz at the farm.
