This woman was my saving grace. My family moved to KY when I was 13. A really difficult age to move 800 miles from everyone you know. My time at her tennis school was the best part of my life in KY. I so looked forward to lessons after school. She took my game to another level, and gave a lonely teenager purpose.

Laura &Family, so sad to hear of Joan's passing. She was a remarkable force in tennis, and effectively gave me a skill that I have carried for a lifetime. I will forever be grateful. Occasionally I will receive a compliment around my strokes; from here forward I will simply give a tip to the heavens. I'll never forget her.

Ms.Ramey and Our Tennis House gave me an opportunity to not only learn tennis, but to meet and associate with people of all ages, from all parts of the world. We still have friends we met through OTH, and I am grateful to still play tennis several times a week.

She also helped put Owensboro on the map for so many...some of her students even went to college locally or moved to the area.

I am sorry to hear this news, but hopefully she and her family know how many lives she touched and impacted by her work.

Joan was an excellent teacher. She taught all three of our sons and they will be forever grateful to her for teaching them the proper strokes that they will be able to use for a lifetime.
Joan and The Tennis House were great assets to our community as students enrolled in her camps from all over the world. Jason, our oldest son, played high school tennis with a young man, from India, that he met at The Tennis House.
So sorry for your loss.

Ms. Ramey was such a gift to the tennis community in Owensboro! Ms. Ramey provided me tennis lessons the majority of my childhood. Playing at the tennis house with Ms. Ramey are some of my fondest memories. She set high goals for me to play college tennis and I was able to meet them because of her. I hope she can look down and see me coaching tennis and realize that those are learning too because of her.

Joan was a unique and complex woman. I was involved with her on political matters in the 1960's. At the time she had some firm beliefs with which I was in agreement. She more or less sponsored me in my election as Kentucky's College Young Republican chairman, and I supported her unsuccessful effort to become the Young Republican chairman of Kentucky. We also worked on the Doug Ford for Congress campaign of which she was the chairman.
Afterwards I lost touch with her, but I did see newspaper articles about her activities at various times. She was indeed a woman who was always involved and always active on various fronts. RIP
