Joan Patricia Rapacz (née Glysch), age 88, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Barrington, Illinois. She was born on January 27, 1937, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and was a long-time resident of Palatine, Illinois. Joan lived a full and vibrant life marked by warmth, love, and an enduring spirit.

Joan was the beloved wife and companion of the late John Walter Rapacz. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children Lisa Callaway (Dan Gorsky) and David Rapacz (Karen).

Joan’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew Callaway and Molly Callaway, who brought great joy to her life. She also held a special place in her heart for her step-grandchildren: Doug Rapacz, Angela Rapacz Weldon, Alison Knutson, and their families.

She was a loving sister to Dennis Glysch and John Glysch. Joan was preceded in death by her husband John Rapacz, stepson Walter Rapacz, and stepdaughter Marilyn Nowogroski.

Throughout her life, Joan found happiness in simple pleasures and active pursuits. She had a passion for golf and pickleball—sports that reflected both her competitive spirit and love of camaraderie. Her green thumb brought beauty into the world through gardening, a hobby she nurtured with care and pride.

Those who knew Joan will remember her as loving and warm—a presence that brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her kindness touched many lives, leaving behind memories that will be treasured always. A private memorial is planned for a later date.
