REGAN, Joan N. (Breton) A most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully, with the love and support of her family, at the
Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, on December 17, 2025, a few days before her 98th birthday. She was a long-time resident of Acton and Boxborough. Cherished wife of the late Joseph C. Regan, with whom she shared 68 years of a very happy marriage. Adored mother of Kathleen and husband, Joseph Carroll, of New London, NH, David and wife, Patricia, of Merrimack, NH, Kevin and wife, Eva, of Westford, Brian and wife, Susan, of Fitchburg; Timothy and wife, Margaret, of Henderson, NV. Devoted to her family, Joan was proud of her eleven grandchildren and delighted in her eight great-grandchildren. Born in Bath, ME, on Christmas Day in 1927, she was the first child of Lionel A. and Phyllis R. (Burden) Breton. A 1945 graduate of Portsmouth (NH) High School, Joan worked at Fanny Farmer in Portsmouth before her marriage. She and Joe raised their family in Acton and were communicants at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish. The ultimate homemaker, with her children grown, Joan became a teacher's aide in Acton before joining the staff at the Children's Shop in Concord, where she worked with the Kussins for 32 years. Until recently, Joan resided at Robbins Brook in Acton, where she was active and thrived with a wonderful group of friends. In addition to her children and their families, Joan is survived by a brother, Colonel George E. Breton, of Westminster, CA; a sister, June E. Sullivan, of Portsmouth, NH; a brother-in-law, Louis R. Vinciguerra, of Portsmouth; and a cousin, James C. Breton, of Mystic, CT, many nieces and nephews; and longtime dear friend, Lillian Sheehan, of West Acton. She was predeceased by her brother, David L. Breton; and sister, Dorothy J. (Louis) Vinciguerra; sisters-in-law, Norma (George) Breton, Ann (David) Breton, and Rosemary E. Regan; brothers-in-law, John M. Regan and Donald Sullivan. Family and friends may call at the Acton Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, 75 King Street, Littleton, MA, on Saturday, January 3, at 10 0'clock. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Acton Center, will follow. Our Mother and Nana/Nanny will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. In the spirit of the season, light a candle and help someone in need.
