Joan Johnson Robbins, 74, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on January 19, 2025, in Titusville, FL.
Born on October18,1950, in Daytona Beach and growing up in Cocoa Beach, Joan was the true definition of a little surfer girl. Many times, grabbing her board to ride a few waves before school. As she got older and bought her ski boat; waterskiing became a passion, and she loved to take the family out and show off her skills.
Joan graduated from Cocoa Beach High School and furthered her education at Florida Technological University, now known as UCF. She embarked on a remarkable career as an Engineer with NASA from 1976 until her retirement in 2006. During her 30-year tenure, she was honored with the Manned Space Flight Awareness Award in 1992, a testament to her dedication and contributions to the field.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joan was a fervent supporter of Alabama Football and a true Floridian who cherished the beach and fishing. Her love for reading, crossword puzzles and spending quality time with her family further illustrated her well-rounded and generous nature.
Joan is survived by her loving spouse and best friend of 42 years, Jerry R Robbins; daughters, Stacey Hurley (husband Mike Hurley) and Karrie Anderson (husband James Anderson); sister, Barbara Denise Knowles; grandchildren, Tanner and Tabatha Hurley, Madison Hurley, Tate Anderson and Abigail Anderson; great-granddaughter, Emerson Hurley and countless nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Ernest L. Johnson and Alice Malcolm Johnson.
Details regarding a beachside memorial service will be announced in the future, allowing friends and family to come together and celebrate Joan's remarkable life in flip flops and tank tops as she would have wanted. Joan's legacy of kindness, intelligence and involvement will jbe cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
